“I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love. For me they are the role model for being alive.” ~Gilda Radner

Butterfly, Day 93, 365 Photo Project, ~July 30, 2011 July 30, 2011

“We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has done through to achieve that beauty.” ~Maya Angelou

My son pointed this little guy on a dandelion, I went and got the camera, and then scared him away, but I followed him, and he was willing to stay still longer enough for me to take its picture.  Butterflies will always fold their wings, where moths don’t when they land.

Hot Tub, Day 92, 365 Photo Project, ~July 29, 2011 July 29, 2011

“I believe I will dip my pink and white body in yon Roman tub.  I feel a bit gritty after the affairs of the day.”  ~W.C. Fields

It’s been a busy week, taking out the wooden fortress that surrounded this hot tub area, and the amount of dirt that surrounds it.  This evening, I spent the evening with the reciprocating saw (it’s my best tool!)  and cut the hot tub into quarters. The heat pump went last year, and it really wasn’t worth the money to put a new one in, considering how cheap this one was, and how old it had been.

The smell of the fiberglass (under the mask) reminded me of my childhood days on our sailboat, the same smell, as well as my Dad doing some school assignments, for me…. I had gathered up the different seeds and he created a fiberglass resin to set my variety of seeds that were in a circle pattern (as he had it molded to the shape of the drinking glass.   One of the school assignments, that I kept for years, as it was so cool!

So wearing goggles, face mask, gloves, a long sleeve shirts, and my green painting pants (that have been around for about 20 years), not usually the type of attire for hot tubbing…….and the only time I actually get in the tub since we have had it, was to only cut it up!

Yellow, Day 91, 365 Photo Project, ~July 28, 2011 July 28, 2011

There is a garden in every childhood, an enchanted place where colors are brighter, the air softer, and the morning more fragrant than ever again”. ~Elizabeth Lawrence

Colours affect our mood.  The sun has been shining for the start of a long weekend, this will make a lot of happy people, once they go back to work once it’s over!

Thistles, Day 90, 365 Photo Project, ~July 27, 2011 July 27, 2011

“All my life I have tried to pluck a thistle and plant a flower wherever the flower would grow in thought and mind.” ~Abraham Lincoln

Only if the character “Eeyore” from A.A. Milne, adopted this quote from Lincoln, he may not be so negative.  Eeyore loves thistles, they are his favourite food, but everything else seems to go wrong for him.   Some people, seem to have those characteristics, a little thorny and prickly on the outside.  Something that you might caution to surround yourself around.

A small application:  to weed out the thistles in your life, and replace them with the beautiful things or people that will enlighten your soul.

Wild Rose , Day 89, 365 Photo Project, ~July 26, 2011 July 26, 2011

“Love is like a wild rose, beautiful and calm, but willing to draw blood in its defense.”  ~Mark Overby

Day 88, 365 Photo Project, ~July 25, 2011 July 25, 2011

“Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul.”  ~Luther Burbank

I really enjoy taking macro pictures, especially of flowers, and realize I have to take them at different times throughout the spring and summer, the different plants in bloom.  So grateful for all the colours that my eyes can behold, and the smells of each flower…and for my mom’s beautiful garden!
