Just recently, I have introduced Argentium Silver to my product line. My fishhooks earrings are of Argentium Silver, and some of my findings. I will gradually convert as more products come available to my liking.

What is Argentium Silver? It is rather a new invention created from a UK fellow, named Peter Johns. He was a silversmith for 12 years, and through research with the Middlesex University, he has created this wonderful product!

Sterling Silver, is made up of 92.5% pure silver, and usually 7.5 % copper, making it more durable, BUT more likely to tarnish.

Argentium Silver, is made to a higher standard than just sterling silver. It is guarantee to be at least 92.5% pure silver, but copper is mixed with germanium.

What is Germanium? Germanium is a semi precious conductive material, it looks grey and white, and has both metallic and non-metallic properties. It is used in fiber optics, as a phosphor in fluorescent lamps, can be used in infrared lamps, camera lenses, microscope lenses, found in the dental field, and even now you can find argentium flutes, too!

Tarnish Resistant! All that is needed is a simple wipe of a cloth, and the germanium atoms actually come closer to the surface making the silver harder.
For the silversmith, there are some additional benefits such as eliminating firescaling, easier to weld, and letting it cool to room temperature in casting.

I do find it a bit harder to work with, as it is not as soft as standard Sterling Silver, but the advantages are excellent, that I will contiune to offer you great prices on this high quality product!
